Leather Goods
These pirate bandanas arrr made of calico, a printed cotton fabric originating from Calicut, India. These gorgeous fabrics get their patterning from a process called Batik, which involves the careful application of wax to the fabric in patterns, after which the fabric is dried and the wax removed to reveal the final pattern. Traditionally used to make clothing, cotton calicos arrr the perfect stylish yet breathable bandana fabric. During the 17th and 18th centuries (just in time fer the Golden Age of Pirates!), calico cotton fabrics were traded between European colonies and India, giving the infamous pirate Calico Jack his namesake due to his affinity for the colorful fabrics.
