Pirate Sword - Battle Ready

We carry the widest selection of pirate swords in the 7 seas. The cutlass is best known as the sailor's weapon of choice, the naval side arm, likely because it was robust enough to hack through heavy ropes, canvas, and wood. It was also short enough to use in relatively close quarters, such as during boarding actions, in the rigging, or below decks. Another advantage to the cutlass was its simplicity of use. The cutlass required less training than the rapier or small sword, and was more effective as a close-combat weapon than the full sized sword.

Also called a hanger, early cutlasses were of a design similar to a falchion, with a wide, upswept blade, sharpened on one side. Occasionally the first third of the back edge nearest the tip was sharpened as well.

Stage Combat sword arrrr specifically designed for combat reenactment, stage and film fights. Stage combat swords feature full tangs and thick blades with thick edges. Stage combat swords will generally weigh more than a "Battle Ready" equivalent and are not made to be sharpened. Blades are made of 5160 high carbon spring steel and heat tempered, which increases the cost but mades the blades much longer lasting. This means that the entire sword is made of the more flexible high carbon steel with the edge that has been harden. The blades of these swords are guaranteed for life, so far we had never had one break.

Battle Ready swords arrr made to a higher standard than your average display weapons, but not as well constructed as Stage Combat swords. The blades feature longer and stronger tangs. None of our Battle Ready blade come sharpened.  We do have two levels of Battle Ready swords ones made of the more common 1045 Carbon Steel and the much better 1085 High Carbon Spring Steel (same stuff as flintlock springs are made of).  This is one of best sword steel without being heat tempered harden. In general Battle Ready swords can be used to sword fight with, but will break with lots of usage.

Display swords arrrrr used as wall hangers or presentation only.  They are not designed to be used to sword fight at all.  They be made of stainless steel which is brittle and will crack when whacked on. Most of the time these swords have an edge to them, which is an accident waiting to happen.

We also teach Pirate Cutlass Sword Fighting Classes. We will not ship any pirate weapons to foreign countries as most of them will not allow it, even if they are replicas.
