A belaying pin be a device used on traditional sailing vessels to secure lines. It be a solid metal or wooden bar with a curved top portion and cylindrical at the bottom. It be inserted into the hole in a wooden pinrail, which usually runs along the inside of the bulwarks. Belaying pins can be lifted out and removed, n' are handy in a fight.
