Pirate Sword - Display Only

When you say Pirate Sword, what should come to mind be the short cutlass n' the long rapier seen in the early pirate movies.  The cutlass is best known as the pirate's weapon of choice as a side arm, likely because it was robust enough to hack through heavy ropes, canvas, and wood. It was also short enough to use in relatively close quarters, such as during boarding actions, in the rigging, or below decks. Another advantage to the cutlass was its simplicity of use. The cutlass required less training than the rapier or small sword, and was more effective as a close-combat weapon than the full sized sword. The cutlass is the sword pirates used, called a hanger during the golden age of piracy, as the term cutlass didn't come to be know until the 19th century. Early cutlasses were of a design similar to a falchion, with a wide, upswept blade, sharpened on one side. Occasionally the first third of the back edge nearest the tip was sharpened as well.

Display swords arrrrr used as wall hangers or presentation only.  They are not designed to be used to sword fight at all.  They be made of stainless steel which is brittle and will crack when whacked. Most of the time these swords have an edge to them, which can be accident waiting to happen.  If you only plan to wear them and not ever use them, except fer a photo, then this would be perfect fer ye.

Battle Ready swords arrr made to a higher standard than your average display weapons, but not are as well constructed as Stage Combat swords. The blades are usually made of carbon steel and feature longer and stronger tangs. None of our Battle Ready blade come sharpened. In general Battle Ready swords can be used to sword fight with, but will break with lots of use.

Stage Combat sword arrrr specifically designed for combat reenactment, stage and film fights. Stage combat swords feature full tangs and thick blades with thick edges. Stage combat swords will generally weigh more than a "Battle Ready" equivalent and are not made to be sharpened. Blades are made of high carbon steel and heat tempered, which increases the cost but makes the blade much longer lasting.

We also teach Pirate Cutlass Sword Fighting Classes. We will not ship any weapons to foreign countries as most of them will not allow it, even if they are replicas.
